Siam...

16th century French travelers reported that the Siamese capital Ayutthaya was the most beautiful city in the East, rivaling Paris itself...
...Their detailed accounts described Siam as a land of fabulous temples and traditions set in pleasure garden surroundings
Since then the mention of Siam has inspired visions of a lush Far Eastern paradise...a land of of great Kings and Queens, gilded palaces, complex culture and intricate handicrafts. The truth about Siam is every bit as exotic as the fantastic accounts Westerners have related for 400 years.

On May 11, 1949 Siam became Thailand, the "Land of the Free", ruled by a constitutional monarchy. Unlike all of its Southeast Asian neighbors, Thailand was never colonized by a Western power.

This rare history of freedom has made Thais intensely proud of their Siamese culture and sincere in welcoming visitors and ideas from around the world.

Today, the essence of Siam lives in the hearts and minds of sixty million Thai citizens and millions of enamored visitors alike. It is embodied in the living culture of Thailand. The road never ends...keep traveling with Compass of the North

  7. Aloha Señorita Mexicana...

I´m very, very happy to know that you are interested in Thai culture. Thailand is really one awesome country and was a great powerful kingdom few years ago...

Like you, I´m every day more interested in thai history and specially in the history of Ayutthaya, for some writers it is the lost city that holywood show us in sci-fi movies about lost civilizations...

Ayuthaya it is a very "low profile" city for the rest of the world and I think for more reasons like one of the theories showed in the movie "The Siam Renaissance".

The movie show that one of the secrets of France is that Eifel Tower is just a copy of one of the old icons in the Siam Architecture... the copy of one of the ancients towers located in the river, that was destroyed by bombs and fire after copy all the design and stile and bring like a price to Europe...

it is very, very interesting movie

try to search the movie in internet:

    THE SIAM RENAISSANCE

based in the novel of: TOMYANTEE

Greetings for you and your family, and keep in touch
