Hola Crazy Drile,

I got the message you wrote on my blog. You really found the right person to ask, quite experienced to take foreigners around:p

I guess you know some famous sightseeing spots on guide book and i am not going to repeat it. here's some extras:

1) you should go to the MongKok district, walk out from the metro station and you will find a street with lots of snacks. Be sure to try the "Stinky tofu" in HK style.

2) Try the herbal tea, there're shops everywhere around the corner.

3) Enjoy your dinner at "Dai Paai Dong" (restaurant which is on the street)

Feel free to ask for details by emails, where & when are you staying? Let's see if I can welcome you some days later. =]

Hi Crazy Drile,

I found your message in my blog, I have an advice about traditional chinese food to you.

You should try the glutinuous rice dumpling as the period you visit to HK in May, it is around Dragon Boat Festival which is a traditional chinese festival. People eat rice-and-meat dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves, you can try this and dip in white sugar or soy sauce (I like white sugar), it is great!

Have a nice trip!

For Hong Kong, I really like the street food because they are pretty unique. Challenge yourself with curry fish balls, go to Mong Kok (a district), there are plenty of street food. Just point- universally helpful. A sweet desert in the shape of eggs, or like a waffle, are nice and taste like coconut and fresh eggs.

Get a local breakfast, rice roll (from the convenient store 7-11), they are EVERYWHERE, you can't miss them, or noodles, or chinese style english breakfast in any local, slightly dirty looking restaurants. Even McDonald have slightly different breakfast, and they even do a taro pie.

Yum Char are little snacky food often for brunch.
Detail description of different types of Dim Sums (literally mean small snacks). Yum Char in Yung Kee 镛记 in Central is very nice.

Photos and review of street food, interesting stuff

If you go to SoHo in Central district, there's lots of fine dining. I really like The Press Room. A review of it below. It's expensive though.
http://www.worldtravelguide.net/city/56/restaurant/Far-East-Asia/Hong-Kong.html

The Pomelo Mango Cream dessert is very nice, you can get it in a chain store called, Hui Lau Shan. (you can find them in Mong Kok or Causeway Bay) Yes and egg tart (a custard like tart made from , EGGS!)

A lovely person have already blog about this so you can check out the photos and the review.

And if you are into seafood, you can go to those small islands, I like going to Cheung Chau island (you need to take a ferry to go there). You can pick your own seafood from fish tanks.

More local food here.

Man, I am getting pretty hungry myself just to list out some of my favorites.

Remember 10% service charge at most places. And don't drink the tap water in Hong Kong, you would get pretty sick if you do. Drink bottled water.

Enjoy!
